Greetings from Reading
Dojo
The dojo in Reading is small both in size
and number of students! At present I have 3 regular students
who train two or three times a week. We train in the basement
of my house. The dojo is divided into two sections: an
area with a training mat (6 by 5 metres) and the back
room with a punch bag. Our training consists of kata,
basics, weights, makiwara as well as nigiri
game and kongo ken.
We have not been in the IOGKF
long (2 years) so are not ready to grade yet in this style
but we are enjoying the benefits of Goju Ryu karate. We
try to come on every course and two of us were lucky enough
to go to Japan in February of this year after seeking
a letter of introduction from Sensei
Molyneux.
Japan proved to be an exciting adventure
not only for karate but also in terms of travel and culture,
I would recommend it!
I’m looking forward to meeting
up with everybody in Liverpool
in April.
