We are pleased to give advance details of the July 2009 European Gasshuko to be held at Boson, on the island of Lindigo, near Stockholm. This will be one of the few occasions this year where many of us will have the chance to travel a reasonable distance to train with Sensie Higaonna.

Please note registrations close on 31 May 2009. People have already started signing up, and early registration is recommended if you wish to secure the on-campus accommodation. The double room hotel standard accommodation costs 600K (£50) a night per room on campus, but you will pay significantly more if you stay at the surrounding hotels. There are cheaper hostel standard rooms available on campus, 230K (4 sharing) to 480K (single) depending on how many share a room.

The closest is airport is Arlanda (ARN) which is a 60 minute taxi dive away (£50). SAS fly from Heathrow to Arlanda and a return flight is £149. Ryan Air fly from Standstead to Skavsta (VST). The return fare is cheaper at £79, but you may find it more expensive to arrange a transfer as Skavsta airport is an extra 50km away.

We shall be publishing more news and recommended travel plans over the next few months, but in the mean time we suggest you visit the official IOGKF Swedish Gasshuko website by clicking here.

You may experience some difficulties trying to complete the online Registration process if you are using Internet Explorer version 7. It works perfectly well with Firefox and other web browsers.

It would appear that a single transaction limit of £650 (approx 7800K) has been set by PayPal for completing the online Gasshuko registration process. Your credit worthiness or the available credit on your chosen debit or credit card is not a factor in this situation. It is just the default credit limit set by PayPal for this particular website interface. We suggest you first try splitting the costs into two or more transactions, which will bring the individual amounts for each transaction down below the £650 credit limit. This has worked for some. If you have an existing PayPal account with a high enough limit you can use this method to settle the bill. The last option is to open a new PayPal account, but you will have to wait between 4 and 7 days to complete the credit limit authorisation process.
