A sensible nutrition strategy

There is no doubt that eating and drinking the right things before and during training, and especially for a grading session, can make a significant difference to your overall athletic performance and recovery times.

The problem is finding reliable information to help you decide what you need to do.

If you ignore the quacks and dismiss all the advice that endorses a commercial product, you are left with some sensible, middle-ground, nutritional advice that is worth reading.

Although the EGKA does not endorse any specific nutritional regime, we reproduce Colorado State University´s fact sheet 9.362 ‘Nutrition for the Athlete’ to help you better understand the issues involved.

We believe this article neatly sums up the current ‘middle-ground’ thinking on sports’ nutrition. Reading it will better provide you with the information you will need to make up your own mind about what is best for you.
